General Terms & Conditions
Pura Vida Carrental
1. General
1.1. These Terms & Conditions apply to all vehicle rental agreements between Pura Vida Carrental Curaçao (hereinafter “the Company”) and the Renter.
1.2. By signing the rental agreement or confirming a booking online, the Renter agrees to all terms listed below.
1.3. The Company reserves the right to refuse rental to any person without providing a reason.

2. Rental Requirements
2.1. The minimum age for renting a vehicle is 23 years.
2.2. The driver must hold a valid driver’s license for at least 2 years.
2.3. An international driver’s license is required if the license is not written in Latin script.
2.4. Only drivers listed in the rental agreement are authorized to drive the vehicle. Unauthorized drivers void all insurance coverage.

3. Rental Period
3.1. The rental period starts and ends on the dates and times stated in the rental agreement.
3.2. Extensions are subject to availability and must be approved by the Company in advance.
3.3. Late returns without prior notice will incur additional charges and may result in loss of insurance coverage.

4. Payment & Deposit
4.1. Payment can be made in USD, ANG/XCG, or by credit/debit card.
4.2. A security deposit (amount depending on vehicle type and insurance coverage) is required before vehicle pickup.
4.3. The deposit will be refunded after the vehicle is returned in the same condition as received.
4.4. Any unpaid balances (including traffic fines, fuel shortage, or damage fees) may be deducted from the deposit.

5. Insurance & Liability
5.1. All rentals include basic insurance with limited coverage for third-party liability and damage to the rented vehicle, subject to a deductible.
5.2. The Renter is responsible for the deductible amount in case of damage, loss, or theft.
5.3. Optional Full Coverage (CDW/LDW) may be purchased to reduce or eliminate the deductible.
5.4. Insurance is void if the driver:

Drives under the influence of alcohol or drugs,

Allows unauthorized persons to drive,

Uses the vehicle for racing, towing, or off-road use,

Fails to report an accident to the police and the Company within 24 hours.

6. Vehicle Use
6.1. The vehicle may only be used on paved or well-maintained roads within Curaçao.
6.2. The vehicle may not be taken off-island or used for commercial purposes (e.g., delivery or taxi).
6.3. The Renter must handle the vehicle with care and follow local traffic laws.
6.4. Smoking is not allowed inside the vehicle. A cleaning fee may apply for violations.

7. Fuel Policy
7.1. Vehicles are supplied with a specific fuel level and must be returned with the same level.
7.2. Missing fuel will be charged at the local rate plus a service fee.

8. Accidents, Damage, or Theft
8.1. In case of an accident or damage, the Renter must immediately contact the Company and the police (917).
8.2. The Renter must complete a police report; without it, insurance is void.
8.3. The Renter is responsible for all damages not covered by insurance.

9. Traffic Violations
9.1. The Renter is fully responsible for all parking tickets, traffic violations, and fines incurred during the rental period.
9.2. An administrative fee may apply for each fine processed by the Company.

10. Cancellation Policy
10.1. Free cancellation up to 48 hours before pickup.
10.2. Cancellations made within 48 hours or no-shows are subject to a one-day rental fee.
10.3. Early returns are non-refundable.

11. Breakdown or Replacement
11.1. In case of mechanical failure not caused by misuse, the Company will provide roadside assistance or a replacement vehicle, subject to availability.
11.2. Flat tires or lost keys are the Renter’s responsibility unless covered under optional protection.

12. Company Rights
12.1. The Company may repossess the vehicle at any time if the Renter breaches these terms or if the vehicle is used improperly.
12.2. The Company is not responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings left in the vehicle.

13. Governing Law
13.1. These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Curaçao.
13.2. Any dispute arising from the rental agreement shall be settled by the competent court in Willemstad, Curaçao.
